About

Welcome and please make yourself at home in my online space! A bit about me – Caroline Jane Mändlein (pronounced “mend-line”, with the emphasis on the ‘mend’). Well, I am wife to a miraculous answer-to-many-prayers-for-a-husband Markus (see Meeting Markus), and mother of two precious boys Ethan-John and Timothy. I love God, I love life, I love learning new things. I love  people, travel, languages, good coffee and good food.  (Travel and coffee have taken a backseat due to motherhood and acid reflux; language a front row seat since marrying a German.)

When it comes to food, I enjoy cooking meals that involve more creativity than just putting fish fingers in the oven, and I especially appreciate a delicious meal and rich conversation shared with others around the table in our home.

I have always had a deep longing for unconditional love and a sense of belonging or “home”. As a child, it made me aware of a power or presence greater than myself. At the age of twenty, I made a commitment to give my life to the One who created me and calls me home. I live to imitate Christ and shine His light – not just so that others will see Him in me, but so that by Him I can see all things.

They say that in life our areas of greatest need can present us with the greatest opportunities. I want to write simply about LIFE,  the people, the joy, the pain, the craziness, the humour, the recipes… and share the adventures. But most of all, to share how faithful God is to his own, and what I’ve learned on this journey.

By wisdom a house is built,
    and through understanding it is established;
through knowledge its rooms are filled
    with rare and beautiful treasures.

(Proverbs 24: 3-4 NIV)
